As legacy 2G and 3G networks are gradually being phased out to free up spectrum for the emergence of 5G, VoLTE is becoming more crucial than ever as a cornerstone of global mobile network infrastructure.
In addition to network-side benefits such as quality and efficiency, VoLTE roaming enhances end-user experience through improved voice quality, setup time, multimedia capabilities and battery efficiency. In order to capture the true value of this opportunity, global operators must align on implementation, testing, commercialization and standardization.
In response to these growing needs, the first hi-H VoLTE Roaming Workshop was held in June 2017 during MWC Shanghai, bringing together 14 member companies to accelerate the rollout of a seamless global VoLTE roaming ecosystem.
